Alaska is the home to not only a vast and varied wildlife population, but also a diverse and plentiful plant population. Like many areas we are facing many ecological difficulties, disease, feral plant populations, and of course the tremendously destructive Spruce bark beetle. This 1/2 inch long insect has destroyed over 60% of the Spruce trees in Alaska, and their favorite targets are "Old Growth" trees.
